When we think of a music festival, sweat, dirt and beer in plastic glasses normally come to mind. But Jardins de Pedralbes Festival has a more refined approach to the festival world. It offers a complete experience where the beautiful gardens of the early 20th century royal residence “Palau Reial”, once home to king Alfons XIII; are witnesses to live music for a whole month, from the 12th of June to the 10th of July.
Surrounded by laurels, pines and even Himalayan cedars, we’ll be able to enjoy concerts by some of the best voices and musicians of the world. The festival also offers a 30 course menu cooked by Michelin star winners the Torres Brothers.
So if you’re planning on going to one of the concerts, take advantage of the day and head for Palau Reial before sunset to visit the palace’s wonderful gardens, where you’ll find french style romantic bridges, avenues of magnificent trees, waterfalls and artistically relevant sculptures such as a sculpture by Antoni Gaudí.
In the Jardins Palau Reial Pedralbes festival the old glories meet the most promising voices without clashing. One concert a day during a bit less than a month is the perfect excuse to discover Palau Reial.
This year’s lineup includes funk legends Kool & the Gang, Simple Minds, guitarist George Benson or even ex first lady Carla Bruni, that headline next to national artists like Raphael, Joan Dausà or Russian Red. The festival ends on the 10th July with “My Way” author Paul Anka.
Tickets are sold separately for each individual concert and have a price range from about 20 to nearly 200 euros depending on the seats you choose.
You can buy your tickets on the phone, on the Internet or at the tourism offices in Barcelona.
