Jai-ca is a typical tapas bar, dating from 1955, now has 2 locations and, what is more surprising, both on the same Street, just a few meters from each other. The first is in Geneva 13th Street and the second, at number 9.
Although the street is a bit hidden from the main path of those seeking the beach, both sites are almost always busy at peak times.
Nicely decorated with marble tables , classic woodden chairs and vintage posters of historical records, it reminds us of those great neighborhood bars or wineries we cherish and value. Plus, they both have a terrace, where you can enjoy a little bit of sun during lunch time.
If you want to follow local habits, just grab a cold beer, wine or vermouth, which seems to be the best combination with a little tapas plates.
To make the first visit an unforgettable experience, I would suggest sepia a la plancha (fried cuttlefish), patatas bravas (which is nothing else but fried potatos with spicy sauce), pulpo a la gallega (octopus seasoned with spicy pepper on a bed of potatoes) and bomba (real flavour and caloric (sic!) bomb).
So don´t forget, if you are hungry after long day on the beach, come to Jai-ca and experience the best seafood tapas in Barcelona.
